If you happen to be near Zestafoni and see the banner saying Argveta, without thinking twice, definitely take that road. On the left side of the road you will see a colored sign with the text “Lia Deida” (meaning “aunt Lia” in Georgian), follow that one.
Simply enter the gate with flowers on it and you are there.
There, behind the gate, you will meet Aunt Leah and her family. One of the main charms of this place is Imeretian cuisine and a very family-friendly environment.
You will meet an aunt who is loved by almost everyone because of her kindness and generosity. Aunt Lia is a woman who has invented her current lifestyle.
The kitchen is one of the main but not the only charm of this place. Every corner here tells its story, one of them about hats, the other about different watches, and the third about Modigliani. “I started with 3 colors of paint – white, red and black – then I could not stop” – says aunt Lia.
There are 6 tables in the house for the guests. All of the tables are either hand-painted by Aunt Lia or decorated with her own hand-sewn covers. The pieces might be useless for others but are beautiful for Lia. The menu is also there – on the wall, color-painted. It is true that the list is not so long, but everything on the menu is local, prepared with passion, mixed well together and flavored. And those are the tastes and experiences that you will never forget.
So, when you are passing by Zestafoni, be sure to turn towards Argveta. Taste the amaing Imeretian cuisine of “Lia Deida”, check out the house carefully, breathe freely and who knows, in this process, you may even think that you have found an unusual heart of the modern world.
