The great Georgian ballet master, dancer and teacher, the founder of the Georgian ballet troupe Vakhtang Mikheili Chabukiani lived in this apartment from 1947 to April 6, 1992, until his death.
Vakhtang Chabukiani Memorial House-Museum preserves the personal belongings of the ballet theater actor (furniture, grand piano, etc.), stage costumes, various documentary materials, photo collection, personal library and archive. Among them, the certificate of the International Catalog of Stars – “Cosmos-Zemlia”, according to which the unnamed star in the constellation of the Swan V. Chabukiani was named after him

The management of the museum temporarily was granted to V. Chabukiani’s nephew – Sophie Gordon, who died soon after. During this period, against the background of general hardship in Georgia, it was not possible to keep the items in Chabukiani’s apartment as museum exhibits.
The museum could no longer function. It was temporarily closed and sealed.
The renewed exposition of Vakhtang Chabukiani Memorial House-Museum was opened on February 27, 2017, symbolically, on the 107th birthday of Vakhtang Chabukiani.
