My house is the result of me and the quarantine – says Marusa. She is a wonderful girl who with minimal expenses and with her own hands started a fabulous paradise “Marusastan” (in Georgian means “at Marusa’s place) in the village of Tokhliauri, Sagarejo district, Kakheti.
I love antiquities, old houses, streets, objects, architecture from very early ages. I was always collecting old things and in my heart I always knew that one day I would build my own house and use these amazing things there.
I have had my own travel company for 5 years and I am very actively involved in this field. Because of the pandemic, I was left unemployed – completely idle and inactive – in a position that had never been my entire life. I have never had so much free time. I felt like I was on the verge of depression. I had to do something.
Being without anything to do in Kakheti, I decided to go to my village and do something useful. Many years ago, my uncle bought a house in Tokhliauri. The house was abandoned and no one had visited the place for almost 20 years. Not surprisingly, the access road to the house was covered with thorns. So I took the gravel and the celery and I started cleaning the yard. Soon enough I had completely cleaned the area from thorns,
even my family members were so pessimistic me rebuilding this half-ruined and abandoned house that they would not even help.
Although I had never worked physically before and had no experience, I painted the house completely by myself, renovated windows and walls, installed the windows and put the doors. I knew I could make it because I totally believed that human capabilities are limitless, if you want something and are determined, you can do anything!
A dream that came true
I really put a new life in “Marusastan” and turned it into the environment of my dreams. Today I have my own fairytale place, a house full of happiness colors. The place built from scratch with no money.
Now I receive guests, I host small parties and I am very happy when I hear people telling me that the environment is better and more fabulous than expected.
Work is a great pleasure and the result is even better. After a tiring day you feel great strength and self-confidence and you already know – you can do anything!
My first dream was “Marusastan” and I made this dream come true. Now I am working to have my own cellar in the spring. I will actively receive tourists, I will introduce a beautiful area – Kakheti – and I will serve them my own wine.
